Climate Change Theatre Action 2023

It was an incredible honour to be commissioned to part of Climate Change Theatre Action for a second time. The prompt this year was “All Good Things Must Begin,” inspired by the journal entry of American science fiction writer Octavia Butler. Butler was incredibly prescient, writing about extremism, racial justice, and climate change some 30 years ago.


While I read the prompt material with an open mind, I naturally fell into writing essentially a companion piece to my 2021 five minute CCTA play, "When" and so it felt natural to call this one, "Now".


September to December 2023 anyone from around the world could sign up to do an event with one or more of the 50 plays written free of charge. "Now" was presented in 17 different events in six different countries, Canada, Germany, India, Netherlands, UK, and USA.


One of them, a company in New York City called Needs More Work Productions filmed their version of the work and it is available on their YouTube page:
